The local dive you should visit is the V.I.P. Too located on HWY 69, just North of HyVee. A female-owned establishment, the VIP has been in Forest City since Linda opened in 1978. Her daughter Teya is continuing the legacy.

Cold drinks, great places to sit around a sunken bar, and a fully carpeted VIP room. Air con and music, too! I recommend the Long Island. You might wake up in Long Island NY if you play your cards right. My committee cohort suggests the Seizure shot - a local delicacy. Anything can happen at the V.I.P. Too.

They plan to put on a party for RAGBRAI folks visiting FC. Support our local establishments and treat yourself to a delightful dive bar experience! This is a CASH ONLY establishment (they have an ATM if you need one). Take the Shuttle to Founders Park & it's just across the highway.

Care to eat outside the Expo in Forest City? We have a few local restaurants that are looking forward to many visitors during RAGBRAI. Centrally located on N Clark St, Sally's (CASH ONLY) will be serving up pie and breakfast fare. Check back on Wednesday on your way out of town for a breakfast sandwich to go! Ay Jalisco is the local spot for Mexican.

Golden Chopsticks will be open on the north side of N Clark St and will offer a Chinese buffet! 5 entrees plus appetizers (egg roll & crab rangoon). To Go boxes will be available, as well as free ice water. Tents and tables with chairs will be out front.

Every Day Nutrition is offering some Forrest Gump themed specials for the event and is located just north and east of the Expo. The Green Axe (located downtown, in the Expo) will have drink specials and there is the possibility of an axe throwing competition.

Perhaps you are looking for a generous scoop of hand dipped ice cream? Sweet Emmylu's on the corner of Clark and J will be dipping all day, with tables and chairs indoors and out. They serve Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream, Homemade Waffle Cones, Slushies, Malts and Shakes, Trinkets -- operating hours on July 22nd: 12pm - 12am.

Interested in a sports bar? Head to Shooterz Bar & Grill on the North Side of town where they'll be hosting a live band and have an outdoor beer garden. They are located by A&W (root beer float? oh yeah!), and a local hit: Taco Jerrys/Borderline.  Mexican food, pizza, slices of pizza, water, drinks! I recommend the everything pizza - pineapple & sauerkraut included. You can't go wrong at any of these locations and all are air conditioned so you can get a break from the heat. They will have a food tent outside establishment, with table and chairs. Inside seating also an option.

The Daily Grind

The Daily Grind will have an outdoor tent setup. Our Ragbrai Drink Menu featuring the unique Laura's lemonade made with Citrus Green tea, Lavender & Lemonade, along with Cold Brew, Iced Tea, Lemonade, Iced Lattes with a choice of Caramel or Vanilla, and Bottled Water. Food Menu consisting of 3 Cold Meat Sandwich options with a side of Kettle Chips. Choose from Turkey & Cheddar on a Croissant, Ham & Swiss on a Croissant, or Turkey and Cheddar on Whole Wheat. We will be open till 7pm.

Tables will be set up for seating. Our space will also include special guest Jack Zimmerman. Jack is combat-wounded Veteran, motivational speaker and author of "Five Minutes: 300 Seconds That Changed My Life" and "Beyond Five Minutes". Both will be available for purchase.

Our housing form has officially closed for FC RAGBRAI 2025. All applicants should receive information about housing placements by June 15. If we are unable to place you, we will provide recommendations about other green spaces that are available for camping.

Still looking for housing and having no luck? We have an INCREDIBLE & LARGE campground with accommodations for folks with or without support vehicles. Register here. You can also opt our of power at this location and just sign the waiver to stay on the grounds (all campers at this location will have to complete a waiver for Winnebago Industries). This is found on the form.

Showers will be available all over town on the day that RAGBRAI arrives in Forest City. Please check out our official map here for specific details.

We will be doing Music Bingo with different prizes available to the winner of each round along with having free will donation for water and snacks.

• We are working tirelessly on matching riders. We are also trying to acquire more local hosts.
• If a rider or team is not placed, they will be contacted by June 15, 2025 with alternative suggestions in order to make their plan
• The fee for housing placement is minimal & NON REFUNDABLE. We hope to place as many folks as possible but it may not be possible to help everyone.

• 6 unrelated people allowed per campsite
• Campsite must have at least one 18 year old

The "Friends of Pilot Knob" group will also be doing the following on Tuesday, July 22, to support the RAGBRAI event:

• The concession trailer will have special hours on Tuesday at the campground.
• We will have sack lunches and walking tacos for dinner available to purchase at the campground.
• Yard games will be set up and available to play.

The Forest Theatre is located on Main Street (Clark Street) in downtown Forest City. They will be putting on several activities on site and they will also be doing a fundraiser inside the theatre, playing the original Forrest Gump film on a loop throughout the day.

The Yellow Bridge is one of the two community initiatives we are supporting with any money raised for RAGBRAI. We hope to complete the $112,000 fundraising goal by the end of the summer so we can proceed with the trail expansion project. This an essential component as The Yellow Bridge serves to reconnect North Forest City with the Downtown area via trails over the Winnebago River.

BrickStreet Theatre is happy to present a special showing of our summer musical 9 to 5: The Musical on Tuesday, July 22 at 7:00 for RAGBRAI visitors. This will be located at the Boman Fine Arts Center (just off the route, near the Waldorf Fieldhouse/YMCA). Graphics coming soon!

The BST events committee will have a 80's themed office photo booth with fun props and wigs for guests to take pictures and document their stop in Forest City.

Bike parking during the expo will be in two lots just south of the Main Expo, off of G & S Clark. See the official map for clarity on this.

Long term parking for any riders leaving vehicles in FC will be located in the east portion of the HS parking lot. See map below - the parking is the section in yellow.

We have lots of retail and food vendors coming to town for this event! Come check out the expo - there will be so many options and it will be lots of fun!
